The period of Easter is the centre of the annual festive circle of Folegandros, with a three day procession of the icon of Virgin Mary, from every corresponding house with offerings and traditional feasts following later in the evenings. On the day of Easter the icon passes from Hora and the streets of Kastro where youngsters welcome the picture with a frenzy of fireworks. On the second day of Easter the icon passes from Ano Meria and the cottages, while on the third day it is directed to Petousi and Livadi and ends at Karavostasi where apart from the houses, the icon blesses the fishing boats, the boats and all the ships that are found in the harbour.
