The elaborate pigeon towers, the picturesque windmills and watermills in certain islands, the imposing lighthouses, but also the escalations and other works of people in the past centuries, adorn innumerable regions of Cyclades and constitute important cultural monuments of the islands, which bring in mind memories from the everyday life of  locals in previous times. Certain lighthouses and windmills have been renovated and function as museums that among others uplift a romantic mood for visitors.
